Bali is closer than you think - Tangalooma Island

If you live in Queensland and you want to experience a bit of Bali, spend a weekend or better still a week on Tangalooma Island.  Tangalooma Island Resort is situated 40km off Brisbane Holt Street's wharf by a catamaran.  I decided to take my family there for a 2 nights stay to celebrate my mum's birthday.  Four of us got fuel up with French Patisserie and onboard coffee.  My family loves the peptit four from French Patisserie Toowong.  It is nice to be able to pick them up before we take the cruise to Tangalooma island because they open from 6am everyday.

Useful tips to survive a weekend/week on Tangalooma island:
#1  Bring your own food.  Unfortunately the food on the island is either not very nice or expensive.  Once you get to the wharf, you will realise people bring huge or should I say gigantic cooler box on wheels to store their food for the duration of their stay.
#2  Get someone to drop you at the wharf.  If you stay two nights, you will have to pay for 3 days parking = $45.  If you stay for a week, parking is $60 which is a much cheaper deal.
#3  Buy a dolphin feed and accommodation package if possible.  Dolphin feed not included in your accommodation is going to cost you big bucks around $100.  This time it costed us $460 for 2 nights accomodation for 4 adults staying Fri and Sat including 4 dolphing feeds.  So it is not a bad deal.
#4  Cost of ferry/catamaran to the island is quite expensive $80 per person return.  So technically staying a week is more worth it in terms on car park and ferry.
#5  You can almost buy anything on the island but there will be limited choice and more pricey.  So bring as many things along as possible but you have feed all into one huge luggage.  Don't worry there will be staff taking your luggage from the catamaran to your room and from your room to the catamaran.

After 75mins cruise, say hello to the beautiful scenery.
